The Story:
While doing some work in the basement of the Sun House, the historic craftsman house built by Grace and John Hudson on the grounds where the museum is located, Robert J. Lee found an amazing collection of glass plate negatives that were the work of Grace Hudson’s father, A. O. Carpenter. Rescuing the plates from the damp and mud, Lee made contact prints of the nineteenth and early twentieth century images and donated the plates to the Grace Hudson Museum. In order to make this important historical and artistic collection available to a wider audience, the museum developed a traveling exhibit, beginning at the museum in 2006
