The Story:
In the course of developing a business providing business consulting to a wide range of companies from tech start-ups in Cupertino to artisans in Mendocino County, when Michael Carroll was ready to have a website started, he turned to one of his clients, Colored Horse Studios, for help. He wanted the site to be clean and accessible, and provide a framework for easy access to information, articles, and discussions about business life. Graphically, he wanted to convey a connection between craft (Michael himself is a fine woodworker) and business. One of his great skills is the ability to break down essential business models into smaller, less intimidating, steps for those of his clients whose primary skill might be creative rather than financial or organizational. The idea of craft, of learning smaller tools that add up to a unified whole, was a compelling metaphor for his style.
The Results:
Colored Horse Studios built the site around images of hand craftsmanship, keeping the pages clean and spare, focusing on the essence of the text or information presented.
