A native of Lisbon, Portugal, Paulo Ferreira’s art education started at the Antonio Arroio School of Art in Lisbon. He went on to study at St. Martins University of the Arts in London, and stowed away for a semester at the sculpture department of the Beaux Arts in Paris. As a painter and sculptor, he is educated in classic techniques—encaustic, lacquer, oils, marble, and bronze. His painting and assemblage incorporates not only traditional materials but also new media, while his sculptural work includes clay, lost wax bronze, acrylic casting, and marble sculpting.
